Below is a brief description of the rhythm of our school day.
Parents/carers and children come into the two year old provision with their parent/carer and are greeted by their child’s key person. A key person is a special person who is responsible for a key group of children and will be the person parents/carers speak to, to share information and address any initial questions.
We have a free flow environment, where children can choose what they want to do and where they want to be, inside and out. Activities are based on children’s interests, but also a focus on developing children’s communication and language development, physical development and in particular their social and emotional development. The activities will continue throughout the morning until snack time, where children will have a selection of fruit and vegetables along with water. Children come together at the end of the session for a story, before going home at 11.25am.
Children come into the nursery with their parent and carer and find their name card, which they put in a basket. As with our two year olds, they are greeted by staff in the classroom.
We have a free flow environment, where children can choose what they want to do and where they want to be, inside and out. Activities are based on children’s interests, but also a focus on developing children’s communication and language development, physical development and in particular their social and emotional development. Activities also support art, music, science, mathematics and literacy. These learning experiences will take place across the nursery, inside and outside. There are snacks available, between 9.30-10.30am, where there is a selection of fruit, vegetables, water and milk available to the children, which the children help to prepare. The learning experiences continue until the children come together for a story before either going home or staying for lunch.
This process is repeated in the afternoon, with snack between 1.00pm-2.00pm. We have an early story group at 2.40pm for the children who leave nursery at 3.00pm.
The above continues for all our children including those who are full time, the significant difference being our full time children will have their lunch from 11.25am to 12.30pm.
